This year, the Rowe School of Business celebrated听the first graduates of our Master of Science in Business program, a research-oriented听thesis program that听was introduced in 2019.

鲍鱼tv me:听 I landed in Canada as an international student to pursue my higher studies at 鲍鱼tv University. I am from India and have done听M.Tech听&听B.Tech听in Computer Science & Engineering back in my home country.听

Yue Li (Scott)听

鲍鱼tv me:听I came to Canada in 2013听from my hometown of Shenzhen, China.听For my undergrad degrees, I did my Bachelor of Hospitality & Tourism Management and Bachelor of Business Administration at Cape Breton University.

My research:听I conducted my research to understand how customers reacted to online games that transitioned from听听

What鈥檚 next:听I had a lot of fun and received a lot听of one-on-one training from my听supervisor听during my time in听the听MScB听Program.听The research I chose was extremely interesting to me.听I am still figuring out what my next steps听will听be.

Advice for new听MScB听students: Our program is only听four听semesters long, which means听that听the first听two听semesters are critical. Try to work hard and make decisions on your thesis research topic options during the first听two听semesters and work from there. It gives you more time to work on the topics and more flexibility towards the end.听

Yujia听Xue

鲍鱼tv me: I am from China. Math and statistics were my undergraduate degree majors. During the MScB program, I chose to focus on finance.

What鈥檚 next:听While听I look for a job, I am working with my advisor,听Oumar Sy,听to try to publish some papers.听听I will take听advice from听him and听start my Ph.D. degree within the next few years.

Advice for new听MScB听students:听Start your thesis as early as you can. Research is not easy.听Decide on听your topic in the first semester. Then, start to talk to the professor if you are interested in any topic.听Once you have your topic and research proposal ready, you can collect the data and clean them. This step may take听a long听time depending听on how large your database is.听听

For the writing, keep in touch with your prof at least once a week. You will learn lots of skills from them.
