The purpose of the Dawson Geology Club is to increase knowledge of Geology. The club consists of a nucleus of members who plan lectures attended by Geology students. Dr. Harrison, director of the Geological Survey of Canada, Professor Krank of McGill and Dr. Fromberg, were some of the speakers. Topics included the National Research Council on Photogrammetry, mining in Mexico and color in rocks. Among the field excursions to various geological aspects of the Maritimes, was a trip to the salt mines of Pugwash.

Five graduate students from the club attended a Geological Society of America Conference in New York. More of the club's geology enthusiasts will attend a Maritime Geological Conference at the University of New Brunswick.
