Healthy Female Volunteers Needed For Sleep Research

Nova Scotia Health Authority and ±«Óãtv University are conducting a study of how sleep loss impacts attentional processes.

You may take part in this study if you:
• Are female, in good health, between the ages of 19 and 25
• Are currently taking oral contraceptives (birth-control pills)
• Have a body-mass index (BMI) of 18.5-25.0
• Usually sleep 7-9 h nightly and do not nap regularly

You may NOT take part in this study if you:
• Have chronic sleep problems
• Have a history of regular recreational drug use
• Are currently being treated for any significant medical condition

This study will take 4 visits:
1. An initial screening session to ensure you meet criteria to participate
in this study, to inform you about the study, and to answer questions;
2. An overnight stay at the sleep laboratory (10 h sleep opportunity) to
become familiar with the laboratory environment;
3. A second overnight stay (10 h sleep opportunity), followed by
cognitive testing the next morning;
4. A third overnight stay (3 h or 10 h sleep opportunity), followed by cognitive testing the next morning.
