Flu Shot Clinics

If you were unable to attend a Flu Shot ClinicÌý
(and would still like to get a flu shot):

Call 902-893-6300 or email Health Services healthac@dal.ca to book an appointment to get a flu shot during our nursing hours . Don't forget toÌý be able to stay 15 minutes after you receive the vaccine.

Symptoms of Flu

  • Fever* or feeling feverish/chills.
  • Cough.
  • Sore throat.
  • Runny or stuffy nose.
  • Muscle or body aches.
  • Headaches.
  • Fatigue (tiredness)
  • Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea, though this is more common in children than adults.

Why should you get the flu vaccine?

  • Reduce your chances of getting the flu
  • Protect the people around you (you can spread the virus without showing symptoms - its not just about you)Ìý
  • It's contagious and can spread quickly and easily
  • The flu can lead to serious complications including pneumonia and respiratory failureÌý
  • The vaccine is safeÌý

Be proactive! ( against getting or speading Flu)

  • Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly
  • Keep your hands away from your face
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces and objects that you touch often
  • Cough and sneeze into your arm, not your hand

If you do get sick:

Follow the tips above (under being proactive) and stay home until your symptoms are improved.

IN ADULTS , emergency warning signs that require urgent medical assessment/care for the Flu inlude:

  • difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
  • sudden dizziness
  • confusion
  • severe or persistent vomitting
  • Flu- like symptoms that improve but then return with fever and worse cough
