OEC Tank 4
Studying the interaction between atmosphere and ocean
OEC Tank 4 is a special large volume tank that differs from the others because it has a top. The top creates a sealed environment with water in the bottom and a gas space above it, allowing researchers to study the interaction of atmosphere and ocean. The tank is also a key component of our Ballast Water Testing Program.
Unparalleled opportunity for atmospheric research
Researching the exchange of greenhouse gases, like CO2, between the ocean and the atmosphere may help us better understand the causes of global climate change. The OEC Tank 4 will provide researchers with a lab-based opportunity to study this complex interaction.
