Reading, Running and Recruiting: The 3 R's of Paul Coffin

In September 2015, The Faculty of Agriculture welcomed Paul Coffin, one of two new Student Recruitment Coordinators.

Originally from Dartmouth, Paul studied education in university. After completing his degree, he went on to work in higher education.Paul met his wife Ashley, a program manager with Extended Learning, in 2007, while both were recruiting for their home universities, Ashley with Nova Scotia Agricultural College, now the Faculty of Agriculture and Paul with Université Sainte-Anne.

His previous work within higher education has provided him with knowledge in an array of fields such as; athletics, leadership development, recruitment and student housing. Gaining experience in these fields helped Paul land his position at the Faculty of Agriculture.

“Paul’s passion for student engagement, retention and recruitment shines through from the positions he has held throughout his career,” Ashley says.

Paul’s work with ±«Óătv takes him to numerous high schools and other events throughout the Atlantic Provinces. During these events Paul promotes all ±«Óătv University has to offer. He also meets with and advises students during their visits here on campus.

In his off hours Paul enjoys the outdoors. He loves activities that he can enjoy out in the fresh air such as cycling and running.  As former coach of the cross-country running team at Sainte-Anne, he truly enjoyed running with the Dal AC Rams during the fall.  In his downtime you can often find Paul sitting down with a good book.

This fall Ashley and Paul will take on a new adventure together as Dons of Chapman House on the Agricultural Campus.   Residence Life Dons are professional, live-in adults who are responsible for looking after the well-being of each student in the House.

“Paul and I are excited for our new adventures as co-Don’s.  We are always up for getting involved in the student experience in any way we can and are very much looking forward to the 2016-2017 school year.”
