Study Abroad

Why study abroad?

There really is no more exciting and effective way to deepen your understanding of spoken German and German culture than to immerse yourself. Being in GermanyÌýoffers a unique chance to become familiar with German institutions, customs, way of life and to be part of the rapid changes taking place in Europe.ÌýWe encourage and assist our students to take advantage of the wide array of study abroad opportunities in Germany - and there are scholarships and financial support programs to help make this happen.

Students can take part in three- and four-week intensive language courses offered at universities in Heidelberg, Freiburg, Berlin, Munich, Weimar, Dresden, Tübingen and many other amazing places in Germany. Canadian-organized programs include the very successful 'Canadian Summer School in Germany' in Kassel, and the 'Canadian year in Freiburg' program. ±«Óãtv has a general exchange agreement with the Ludwig-Maximilians Universität in Munich.Ìý

Students with a strong ability in German may also consider taking a year of independent study at a German university - talk to the advisor for more information.ÌýA year in Germany provides students with the opportunity toÌýmaster the German languageÌýand study in depth the cultural heritage of the German-speaking countries within the European context. A year-long immersion and the first-hand knowledge of Germany and Europe give participants a linguistic and cultural expertise which is difficult to acquire in any other way.

Students willÌýreceive creditÌýat ±«Óãtv for pre-approved courses taken in Germany. Advanced classes conducted in German in the senior years help with the intensive immersion process overseas.
