Bio
Dr. Frayne is from a small town in South-Western Ontario called St. Mary's. He grew up playing as many sports as possible within the small community and still plays hockey and golf today. After completing his graduate work at Western University, Dr. Frayne and his wife (Dr. Rebecca Moyer - School of Physiotherapy, ±«Óãtv University) relocated to Halifax in 2017 where they currently reside with their son and dogs. Dr. Frayne is an Assistant Professor, Lab Instructor, Postdoctoral Fellow, and Canadian Sport Scientist (Professional).Ìý

Research interests:Ìý
Dr. Frayne’s research focus is on sport ergonomics investigating the effects of factors, such as personal protective equipment and athlete workloads, on athlete safety and performance. Through strategic industrial research partnerships Dr. Frayne quantifies the effects of ice hockey goaltender equipment modifications on goaltender kinematics, kinetics and overall athletic performance. Also, using motion tracking tools (optical and inertial measurement units), Dr. Frayne works collaboratively with fellow ±«Óãtv researchers to track athlete and general population activity postures.
The results of this research have been useful in helping equipment manufacturers develop innovative products and assist athletes, coaches, and training staff to make directed decisions on protective equipment and physical activity management.Ìý
