The Faculty of Health invited applications for a Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in ‘Anti-Racism in Health Professions Education and Practice’ to be situated in the School of Nursing. We are very pleased to announce the appointment of tenured Full Professor Dr. OmiSoore Dryden to this role, starting July 1, 2025.

If you’re a Dal Health alum, chances are you’ve met Andrew Pelrine. Pelrine works in the Dean’s Office in the Faculty of Health, working with our many Schools and academic units to engage with their alumni whether with events, feature stories or reunions.

On July 3, Semester 3 Bachelor of Science in Nursing students met with the Mobile Outreach Street Health team in the Carleton campus quad to donate the sunscreen and Boost nutritional drinks that their class collected with the support of local organizations.

Representing a key outcome of the UpLift Partnership, Nova Scotia Health Public Health has announced continued funding for eight Youth Engagement Coordinator positions along with one provincial role.

Juliet Rowe and Theresa Gaughan are co-hosts of Mind: The Gap – a podcast that was created in Dr. Shaun Boe’s Lab for Brain Recovery and Function. Rowe, a Rehabilitation Research student, and Gaughan, a PhD in Health candidate, use the podcast to educate, inspire and to learn about themselves as researchers.

Stephanie Williams is the first person in her immediate family to attend university. After graduating from Dal in 2020 with a BScN, Williams accepted a position at the Garron Centre for Child and Adolescent Mental Health while also working in withdrawal management in Lunenberg and Dartmouth.

Simon Pawlowski worked for many years as an entomologist, however, he began to find the long hours of lab work isolating. Pawlowski searched for a new career path that would allow him to work more directly with people. Through research, career aptitude tests, and recommendations from the Wolfville Hearing Clinic, he discovered the field of audiology.

During her studies, MacEachren became passionate about understanding how the various daily tasks and activities people engage in impact their health and their wellbeing. She also believes the Occupational Science program broadened her awareness of diverse perspectives and the importance of equity.

The 2024 Crossroads Interdisciplinary Health Research Conference continued its proud legacy of celebrating the newest generation of student leadership in health research. On March 1st and 2nd, over 140 students from across Canada gathered at ±«Óãtv University to showcase their latest research, participate in engaging panels, and hear keynote speeches from leaders in the health sector.
