This past February, the ±«Óătv Master of Health Administration (MHA) program was the first Canadian team to participate in the eighth annual University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Health Administration Case Competition. Thirty-seven teams from various universities across the United States are provided with a case based on a real-life scenario for which they must prepare a comprehensive solution - covering all legal, ethical, marketing, economic, financial, and strategic facets of the case - to present to a panel of judges comprised of senior healthcare administrators.

The ±«Óătv inaugural team included Jennie Ding, Andrew Milligan, Vicky Smith, and Bennett Jovaisas as a first-year observer. The team was advised by faculty members Michael Hadskis, David Persaud, and Executive-in-Residence, Robert Zed. The students worked diligently over three weeks to develop a comprehensive solution to the hospice care case to reflect the skills acquired throughout the MHA program, and our Canadian healthcare ideals of equality and access. The team and advisors are very proud of the dedication and outcome of this endeavour and value the unique learning opportunity this case brought to them.

First-year students from the MHA program plan to continue the tradition next year, with Bennett Jovaisas returning with a team of his classmates.  All the best to Bennett and the 2015 team!
