Clinical Adjunct Criteria

Purpose
An Adjunct Clinical Associate appointment recognizes physiotherapists who make active, ongoing, and unpaid contributions to educating MSc Physiotherapy students. This appointment is offered to individuals outside of ±«Óătv at affiliated working/training environments that is integral to program completion. These individuals demonstrate continuous involvement as preceptors, practice education coordinators managers, clinical leads, or similar roles.

Eligibility criteria
  • To be eligible for this appointment, applicants must meet the following:
    Be a licensed physiotherapist in good standing in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, or Prince Edward Island.
  • Have at least 5 years of experience in physiotherapy practice.
  • Have served as a preceptor for a minimum of 6 students from ±«Óătv School of Physiotherapy over the past five years OR have acted as a supervisor/mentor to students and/or preceptors(e.g., Clinical Lead or equivalent) over the past 5 years.
Responsibilities
  • Maintain good standing in each of the eligibility criteria listed above.
  • Continue making active, ongoing contributions to the education of MSc Physiotherapy students.
Term of appointment
The appointment is renewable every three years if eligibility criteria are met.

  • Inclusion of the ±«Óătv Adjunct Clinical Associate appointment on their rĂ©sumĂ©.
Application Procedure
Physiotherapists who meet the eligibility criteria are invited to apply by submitting the following via email to the Director of the School of Physiotherapy at jbutterf@dal.ca

  • Proof of professional licensure.
  • An up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV). Please ensure that information provided on the application form is available on your CV.
  • Application Deadline: January 30th 2025.
  • Appointments will become effective on July 1, 2025.
Review Process:
  • Applications will be reviewed by the School of Physiotherapy Appointments Committee and will include a review of good standing from the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education (ACCE).
  • The appointments committee will make a recommendation to the Director of the School of Physiotherapy. 
  • The Director will forward the recommendation to the Dean of the Faculty of Health, who will then submit it to the President’s Office and Board of Governors for final approval.
  • The official appointment letter will be sent from the President’s Office.
Orientation
Upon receiving the official appointment letter, the Adjunct Clinical Associate will receive an Orientation Package from the School of Physiotherapy, which will include:

1. Guidelines for accessing a ±«Óătv Net ID and Banner Number.
2. Guidelines for accessing ±«Óătv University library resources.
3. General School of Physiotherapy information.

Renewal of Appointment
Adjunct Clinical Associates interested in renewing their appointment must submit an updated application form and CV, that includes evidence of ongoing contributions to the program as per the eligibility criteria in the fall prior to the end of their current term.
