Dr. Andrew Peacock came to ±«Óãtv University in 1982. During his career he was involved in the areas of Human Resource Management, Business Strategy and Information Technology. He pioneered the use of a student presentation seminar for the MBA courses in Human Resource Management. In 1984 he was a founding member of the Courseware Development Project. This project brought in over $3 million in private donor funding that included putting a PC on every professor's desk and wiring them together. This project earned the School of Business the reputation as "Canada's Most Technologically Advanced Business School."

Andy, as known by his friends and colleagues, contributed to the local IT sector in several ways. He took sabbatical from ±«Óãtv to work with Digital Electronic Company in Massachusetts, returning to Halifax to teach and develop or co-develop new courses in MIS at the MBA level. He took leave from Dal to help a Halifax-based high tech start-up company and worked as CEO of BDI (Business Development Inc.), a company owned by ±«Óãtv University, the Province of Nova Scotia, and a consortium in Scotland.

Returning to ±«Óãtv, his final years were devoted to teaching in the undergraduate strategy area. Students selected him as undergraduate professor of the year in 1997.

The BComm Class of 1997 Scholarship is established by the class in celebration of its 25th reunion in 2022.

3. Made a significant contribution to the university as an organizer or as a participant in university or community activities

Christopher McKee was born in Halifax in 1959. The majority of his schooling was in that city. He attended ±«Óãtv University from 1977 to 1981 and received his Bachelor of Commerce in 1981. While at University he was active in water polo, life guarding, Red Cross small craft safety, and sailing. He worked for Clarkson Gordon on graduation, receiving a chartered accountant designation. He became a Manager in the firm then called Ernst and Young. He later became Chief Financial Officer for Budget Car &Truck Rental, Maritimes, and then Chief Financial Officer for Larsens Packers Limited of Berwick, Nova Scotia. He was stricken with a brain tumor in 1995 and died in 1996 at the age of thirty-six.

4. Have made a significant contribution to the DCS, the Commerce program, and the greater ±«Óãtv Community

The ±«Óãtv Commerce Society (DCS) represents the interests of over 1,200 full-time undergraduate Commerce Co-op students. The goal of the organization is to build a sense of community among all ±«Óãtv Commerce undergraduates, and serve as a link between students, faculty, the business community, and business schools across Canada. Through the DCS Scholarship, we are looking to show our support annually for the exceptional leadership demonstrated by one or more students in the Commerce Program within the Faculty of Management.

1. Enrolled in a Faculty of Management academic program 
2. Self identifies as Black, Indigenous or a Person of Colour
   
3. Demonstrates good academic achievement 
4. Preference to a student from Nova Scotia

At Dash Hudson, we care about making data-backed decisions, helping customers, and fostering growth in our company and communities. We created this scholarship to support the student community in their pursuit of education. Learning is a continuous process, and we understand the importance, challenges, and opportunities that post-secondary education gives individuals. We hope that the Dash Hudson Scholarship will help BIPOC students further their education without the strain that finances create for Nova Scotia students. 

Eligibility

1. Enrolled full-time in Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Management, MBA (Corporate Residency pathway) or Master of Science in Business program.
2. Demonstrate high academic achievement
3. Preference given to students who self-identify as being a member of an underrepresented population.

Richard Glube began his 20-year teaching career as a professor in the School of Business in 1969. His teaching areas were Business Policy and New Venture Creation. In preparation for the New Venture Creation course students remember him best for the "Blue Sky" paper, a comprehensive analysis and implementation plan for a new venture, what we now refer to consistently as a Business Plan. During his tenure at ±«Óãtv, Richard obtained his PhD from the Cranfield Institute of Technology, England, winning the gold medal in 1978.

Prior to commencing his teaching career at ±«Óãtv University Richard was in retail business for 20 years. After retiring from ±«Óãtv in 1989, Richard commenced a new career. He took courses to become a machinist so he could work at his hobby of building live steam engines. He built two before his untimely death in 1997.

Eligibility

1. Be actively enrolled in either the Bachelor of Management or Bachelor of Commerce Co-op program;
2. Be considered at least 3rd year standing within your program;
3. Be majoring in Entrepreneurship (BComm) or Entrepreneurship & Innovation (BMgmt) (preferred but not mandatory)

Selection will be based on the assessed viability of the student’s proposed business, as well as demonstration of commitment, passion and ability to execute.

This award was established in 1987 to encourage Entrepreneurship within the Faculty of Management’s undergraduate student cohort. 

Eligibility

1. Bachelor of Commerce or Management student
   
2. Canadian citizen or landed immigrant (first preference will be given to students from Atlantic Canada)
3. Be in good academic standing
4. Desire to pursue a career in Family Business, Transportation and/or Business Government Relations
5. Preference will be given to students who can demonstrate financial need

These Scholarships have been established, in part, as a means by which to recognize and celebrate the values held and exhibited through a lifetime of achievement by Sir Graham Day, as well as to encourage both undergraduate and graduate students to participate in course work and related work-terms or internships with a focus on family business, transportation, or business-government relations.
