Seminars
One of the most important roles for our Department is the promotion of and active participation in the exchange of ideas with other researchers and educators.Â
The Seminar Program encourages interactions between members of the department and distinguished chemists from academic, industrial, and government laboratories from around the world. Many speakers are leaders in their fields of research and provide stimulating discussions on current research developments. In addition to the intellectual stimulation provided by the exchange of ideas, the visits of world-class scientists promote discussions that lead to the initiation of collaborative research projects with faculty, and to opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to undertake further study or employment at other institutions.
To this end, the Department hosts two annual prestigous lecture series, The Walter J. Chute Distinguished Lecture and the Carl C. Coffin Lecture. We also hold Visiting Speakers Seminars and Graduate Student Seminars.
