Update on building closures

- July 25, 2010

Most buildings that were closed over the weekend will reopen for regular business hours on Monday, with some exceptions.

Classes and events in affected buildings have been rescheduled or relocated. Students should check their dal.ca email or contact their instructors for details.

Arrangements are also being made for researchers who need access to labs.

All of the Life Sciences Centre will be open during regular business hours, excluding the 8th floor of biology which remains closed as crews continue to repair damage. While the psychology wing will be open during business hours, no wet labs will be authorized.

All of the Chase Building will be open except the basement, where crews are repairing damage resulting from a broken water line.

The Macdonald Building will be open for regular business hours.

The Chemistry Building and the chemical storage facility will remain closed until further notice.

“The rooftop fire and water main break over the weekend may continue to impact a number of buildings. As a result, faculty, students and staff may be affected,” says Alan Shaver, Vice President Academic. “We’ve been working over the weekend to minimize disruption and to ensure that regular activities resume as quickly as possible.”

Dr. Shaver thanks everyone for their patience and adds that updates will be provided as developments occur.
