Work continues into Monday evening to reactivate the sprinkler system main in the Chase Building. Current plans are to begin to test this system on Tuesday morning, with the hope of completing testing by mid-day.
Assuming everything functions properly, sprinkler systems will be fully reactivated in the Chemistry Building, the Chemical Storage Facility, the Macdonald Building, Chase Building and the west wing of the LSC Psychology Tower. In the meantime, affected buildings have Fire Watch patrols and fully functioning pull stations, alarms and fire extinguishers
The hope is to re-open the Chemistry Building and the Chemical Storage Facility by mid-day on Tuesday. In addition, the Macdonald, Chase and the west wing of the Psychology Tower would return to regular operations at that time.
ONGOING REPAIRS
A temporary tarp has been placed over the section of burnt roof of the LSC, providing weather protection for the biology tower’s top floor. Repair work continues on the 8th floor, in the greenhouse and offices.
Some soggy drywall has been removed from the basement of the Chase Building and drying equipment is in place.
