Top floor of LSC open for business

- July 28, 2010

If you need to visit any offices on the eighth floor of the Life Sciences Centre (LSC), it is now possible to gain access from either the elevators or the south stairwell.

The fire-damaged area remains sealed off and this includes the north stairwell.

It is expected that repairs in this area will be largely completed by August 6. Until that time, there will be some construction noise and disruption.

Meanwhile, classrooms located off the LSC's Common Area have been dehumidified and are being cleaned.

Chebucto Community Net in service

The basement of the Chase Building remains closed and some offices are being relocated temporarily.

The machine room on that level continues to have restricted access as well; however, the server that hosts the Chebucto Community Net is functioning.

Crews will continue to work on repairs associated with water damage from a broken water main. This is expected to wrap up on August 6.

Books and journals that became water logged in the aftermath of the flooding are all now in climate-controlled storage.

The collection will be assessed carefully to determine which resources are unique or duplicated elsewhere.
