Over three days from June 6 to 8, 600 students from Grades 9 to 12 are expected to visit the Faculty of Science for Marine Biology Fun Days.
Marine biology researchers will lead the teens through four sessions of marine discovery.

鈥淭he Fun and Discovery Days is an opportunity for students and teachers to visit the Faculty of Science, participate in interactive, educational and hands-on activities that assist teachers in meeting their curriculum outcomes,鈥� says Theresa Myra, school outreach coordinator for the Faculty of Science at 鲍鱼tv.

Sessions will include a marine touch tank, dissections of squid and fish, observation of the aquarium room and a Q&A with scientific scuba drivers.

"鲍鱼tv's Fun Days is an excellent opportunity to immerse children in the world of science by showing them fun and innovative ways in which science is cool," says Joy Noseworthy, junior high teacher at Uniacke District School who brought her class to Physics Fun Days held earlier in May. 鈥淚t was great that the students could enjoy science in ways that we cannot produce at a junior high level.鈥�

鈥淭he experience is unique because our programs are unique. We have world class facilities and programs like the Aquatron and the Ocean Tracking Network. Nothing in this country can compare,鈥� adds John Batt, Aquatron manager.

鲍鱼tv is a world leader in oceans research and the international headquarters for the Ocean Tracking Network (OTN). 鲍鱼tv Oceans Week, June 1 to 8, culminates with United Nations鈥� World Oceans Day on June 8, an opportunity to educate and celebrate what oceans research contributes to our environment, economy and culture.

The Faculty of Science's fun and discovery days are offered each year to Nova Scotia Grade 6 鈥� 12 educators and students.
