The Tigers showed their stripes on Saturday versus Acadia at Dalplex. A standout performance by Louise Facca, leading her team with 11 kills and 9 digs, helped Dal win in three straight sets to continue their 12-game winning streak and remain ranked No. 3 in the CIS. This weekend the Tigers are at home for their of the season, so don’t miss your chance to cheer ±«Óãtv on!
Women’s Basketball
SMU 77 @ DAL 69, DAL 67 @ UNB 43
Currently in second place, ±«Óãtv took on the AUS first-place Saint Mary's Huskies Wednesday night. The Tigers were on their A-game and had a narrow lead at the end of the second quarter, but Dal could not hold off SMU, and fell 77-69. Keisha Brown dominated the court with 29 points. Back on the court Friday night, UNB hosted Dal in a four-point game. With a strong start the black and gold controlled the court. They maintained a lead throughout the entire game, and earned a 67-43 victory.
Men’s Basketball
SMU 57 @ DAL 50, DAL 76 @ UNB 73
Last week ±«Óãtv was looking for points to secure a playoff position. Despite a back and forth battle with the Huskies Wednesday night, the Tigers fell to SMU by seven points (57-50). Simon Marr earned an impressive 22 points for the Tigers. The black and gold travelled to Fredericton, N.B. Friday night to challenge UNB in a four-point game. Both teams fought hard for the win, but Dal’s teamwork dominated in the end. ±«Óãtv is now in a three-way tie for third place in the AUS with UPEI and StFX.
Men’s Hockey
DAL 2 @ SMU 6, StFX 2 @ DAL 1
Saint Mary’s hosted the Tigers Friday night in the last Halifax rivalry game of the season. The Huskies came out strong and had a four-goal lead by the middle of the second period. Dal didn’t give up, scoring two goals by the end of the second. Forward Shea Kewin recorded a goal and an assist. Unfortunately SMU scored two more goals in the third period, ending the game 6-2 for the Huskies. The following night the black and gold faced off against StFX in their last home game of the season. Early on the X-Men had a two-goal lead, but late in the third period Tigers captain Pierre-Alexandre Vandall scored to give Dal energy although time ran out before they could close the rest of the gap.
Track and Field
±«Óãtv Open
On Sunday, the track and field team hosted the Annual ±«Óãtv Open at Dalplex. The black and gold earned 20 top three placements, eleven of which were first place finishes. Keep up the hard work and the impressive victories Tigers!
