For some it was their first time participating; for others it’s a long-standing holiday tradition. Regardless, it’s safe to say that everyone at the Annual ±«Óătv Carol Sing on Thursday afternoon left feeling a little more festive.

Led by President Florizone and Choral Director Mary Martell, the musical event filled the Sculpture Court of the Dal Arts Centre to near capacity with staff and faculty, friends, family members and one baby grand piano.

In between song selections — which included holiday classics ranging from “Deck the Halls” to “The First Noel” — Dr. Florizone and Prof. Martell were prepared with seasonal zingers. For example: “What’s the difference between the Christmas alphabet and the ordinary alphabet? The Christmas alphabet has no ‘L.'” (Admittedly, a bit of a groaner — delivered with tongue planted firmly in cheek.)

The highlight, aside from six delicious pots of chowder and sweets provided by ±«Óătv’s Food Services team, was a rousing version of “Jingle Bells” with attendees fetching their keys to provide the song with the requisite “jingle.”

Photographer Nick Pearce was on-site to capture the festivities. Thanks to everyone who helped organize or take part in today’s sing-along. Whether you’re a baritone or a bass, have perfect pitch or tend towards tone deaf, we wish you a very happy holiday!
