As fall rolls in, high school students across the country begin to contemplate what their next step will be after graduation. For many, this can feel overwhelming, with all the options for the future. There are a lot of questions to ask: What field of study should I pursue? Which universities have the program I am interested in? Where will I feel most at home? It’s enough to make any student’s head spin.

On October 24, ±«Óătv’s Halifax campuses will open their doors to prospective students, their families and friends to provide a glimpse into what being a ±«Óătv student is really like.

At last year’s Open House, just over 1,800 high school students from across the region and beyond were welcomed on campus to explore and learn about ±«Óătv.

“I love the energy of Open House,” says Christine Wilson, who works in the Registrar’s Office and is coordinating the 2015 event. “It’s a chance for students to connect across campus and discover if ±«Óătv is a good fit for them."

At this year’s Open House, students will have the opportunity to attend an academic program fair, a student clubs and society fair, a student services fair, and engaging sessions hosted by academic and student service units, as well as tour the campus and residences. The structure for Open House is flexible, and students and their families get to pick and choose which events they attend during the day.

One of the most popular services at Open House is on-site admissions: students can submit their application and meet with an assistant registrar to discuss admission. Last year, just under 450 students elected to apply for admission on-site.

Open House is run by student and staff volunteers and the Registrar’s Office, which provides ample opportunity for guests to meet current students.

It’s sure to be an exciting event that will give students an excellent opportunity to discover ±«Óătv.
