On Saturday October 29, Dal was host to Diwali Night in the McInnes Room of the ±«Óătv Student Union Building, an event that brought together Indian Festivals Club of Nova Scotia and INDISA (the ±«Óătv Indian Subcontinent Students’ Association).
The festival represents the “Spreading of Light,” which signifies the victory of light over darkness or good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. Throughout the evening, guests were captivated by electrifying performances of dance, a fashion show and music. At intermission, a feast of traditional Indian cuisine was served featuring samosas, butter chicken, palak panner, naan and rasmalai.
Performers included: Ellenvale Jr. High School, Laasya, Shreeya Kumar, Dancing Dolls, Ali & Hasin, Bongo Lolona, Nepalaya, Reva Bhardwaj, Dartmouth Bhangra Group, Preet Brothers, Katerina Sushko, a fashion show run by Vaudeville (±«Óătv/King’s group), Chiro band, Desi Pathakas, Desi Kids Bhangra, Colours, Shayar Ka Khwab, Iman, Fusion, Super 6, Bollywood Dance Troupe, Maritime Bhangra Group.
