Future international undergrads at ±«Óătv would have more certainty about the cost of their education under a new proposal put forward by the university.
This new model for international tuition, scheduled to be considered and voted on by Dal’s Board of Governors next month, would provide future international undergraduate students with a guaranteed tuition price: their tuition fees would stay the same in every year of their program.
To support this guarantee, and to bring Dal’s fees more in line with comparable universities across Canada, international fees for future students would increase from what they are now — a change that would allow Dal to make significant new investments in the student experience. Some of the areas targeted for investment include scholarships and bursaries, additional student supports, and improvements to academic buildings and learning spaces.

“Students from around the world who select ±«Óătv as their university of choice make our community stronger and more dynamic while also diversifying and strengthening our Faculties and programs,” said Provost Frank Harvey and Vice-President Finance and Administration Gitta Kulcycki, in a memo to the Dal community. They explained the new guaranteed tuition model has been proposed “to help provide international students — and all ±«Óătv students — with a superior student experience.”
The new fees and the tuition guarantee would only apply to international students beginning their degree programs in Fall 2023 or later. Current international students would continue under the current tuition model.
The proposal has been shared with current students, faculty and staff prior to Board approval to solicit feedback and input on priorities for investing back in the student experience.
