Participants Needed for Balance Study

Posted by School of Health and Human Performance on January 14, 2013 in General Announcements

Hello, my name is Chauntelle Melong, and I am an Honours candidate in my 4th year of Kinesiology at ±«Óătv University. I am conducting research on adherence and balance training in novel and traditional exercise balance programs for healthy University students. The study will engage participants in a 4 week balance training program, where participants will be asked to exercise three times a week, for 20 minutes during each session within a lab in the Dalplex. Involvement in this study will allow participants to learn how to use new and fun balance equipment associated with the intervention program.

If you are a full time ±«Óătv undergraduate student and are between 18 and 25 years of age you may be eligible to participate. You must have no known current or recurrent serious injuries of the leg/foot (e.g., ankle sprains) or known neurological impairments that could affect your balance and safety throughout the study. You also must answer “no” to all of the questions on the attached PAR-Q questionnaire in order to participate. In general, you should be considered to have a low level of physical activity on a weekly basis (<150 minutes of moderate to vigorous levels of physical activity).

If you are interested in participating in the study, or would like more information about the study, please contact Chauntelle Melong at ch591067@dal.ca. Thank you for your time and your participation is greatly appreciated!
