Limited Term Appointment at the Rank of Assistant Professor.
Ìý
±«Óãtv University School of Nursing is seeking an outstanding educator, researcher, and practitioner. This is a full-time, two-year, limited term position at the rank of Assistant Professor and the successful applicant will have an administrative role as Associate Director, Undergraduate Program.Ìý The appointment will be effective September 1, 2013.ÌýÌý The position is subject to final budgetary approval.

Situated in the faculty of Health Professions, the School of Nursing offers programs leading to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing with multiple streams; a Master of Nursing in variety of specialties including nurse practitioner; and a PhD (Nursing) focusing on the impact of nursing practices on health outcomes for individuals, families, communities and/or populations.

At the time of appointment, the successful candidate will have completed a doctoral degree in a health-related discipline, and have demonstrated a commitment to developing excellence in their scholarship of teaching, and practice.Ìý The candidate will be expected to develop and maintain a rigorous undergraduate academic program.Ìý Superior organizational, team building, and communication/interpersonal skills are essential.

The primary responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to provide academic and administrative leadership for all matters pertaining to curriculum, evaluation and faculty development, as well as, planning related to any special or new projects in the Undergraduate Program.Ìý Guided by the academic plan, the Associate Director is responsible to the Director, School of Nursing, for providing participatory leadership for the faculty teaching in the Undergraduate Program; participation in academic decision making about program planning and development matters, academic decision-making about student affairs and learning resource matters in accordance with the principles of the School’s newly implemented governance model.Ìý As well, a background in some combination of leadership, ethics,Ìý diversity in healthcare, interprofessional/interdisciplinary education, information technology, including distance and context-based learning, and/or clinical simulation would be assets., Eligibility for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia is a requirement.

A complete application is comprised of (1) a cover letter outlining your experience, major contributions to teaching, and practice, and the contribution you envisage making to the School, the discipline and the profession; (2) a copy of your curriculum vitae; (3) a copy of your teaching evaluations from the past two years; (4) reprints of at least two representative published papers, and (4) at least three confidential letters of reference, including one from your most recent employer, forwarded under separate cover directly from your referees.
