WORK ASSIGNMENT:  The academic will be responsible for teaching NURS 4240.06 Nursing Practice IV Internship IV during the Winter Term, 2014. Responsibilities will include supervision of clinical groups in the Undergraduate Program prior to graduation. In addition the successful applicant will be responsible to coordinate clinical placement activities across the undergraduate program. In conjunction with administrative support staff and the Assistant and Associate Director of Undergraduate programs the successful candidate will focus on partnerships with clinical agencies, liaison with faculty and students and coordination of clinical placements.

This course focus within this role is that of the internship prior to graduation provides students with the opportunity to consolidate and apply knowledge and processes within the domains of nursing practice. Students integrate leadership knowledge and behaviors within social healthcare systems. Collaboration and advocacy with clients, other healthcare professionals and peers are emphasized. The administrative focus is on placements across the program.

Clinicals are scheduled from March 17 - May 8, 2014. The Part-time Academic reports directly to Dr. Kathleen MacMillan, Director, School of Nursing and, collaborates with Dr. Mary van Soeren, Associate Director, Undergraduate Studies.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE: Candidates must hold a graduate degree in nursing with relevant expertise and teaching experience. PhD preferred.
