PAY RATE: In Accordance with Collective Agreement
WORK ASSIGNMENT: The instructor is responsible to teach this advanced undergraduate-level course on Environmental Impacts in Marine Systems. This course attempts to review the types of environmental problems occurring in ocean ecosystems. Object-based software (Simile; simulistics.com) is used to produce examples of models for simulation of various impacts. A full set of PowerPoint lectures, Simile models, and class assignments are available for use. More advanced material will also be provided to cross-listed graduate students. The instructor will mark assignments that are associated with the lectures. Access to University computing and administrative resources will be available.
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Applicants will possess a MSc or PhD in biology or oceanography with some teaching and research experience in marine ecology. A basic knowledge of calculus will be beneficial. He/she will also have demonstrated ability in lecturing to students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. First-time applicants to the Department of Oceanography must provide the names of two references.
