Prepare to experience, through a student lens, an exemplary model highlighting Fink’s (2013) Interactive Nature of Significant Learning online with large student enrollments using Challenge-Based Learning (CBL).
Description and Goals:
The goal of this interactive presentation is to provide educators with the knowledge and skills to implement Fink’s (2013) Interactive Nature of Significant Learning in online courses with large student enrollment through the use CBL. Participants will actively participate in an online learning module to experience the six categories of learning that are required to create significant learning experiences in the online environment.
Learning Outcomes:
- Acquire an understanding of Fink’s (2013) Interactive Nature of Significant Learning contextually grounded in the online learning environment.
- Participate in a CBL online learning experience, as viewed through a student lens, to gain experiential understanding of the application of this model.
- Reflect upon online learning strategies that cultivate each of the six categories in the taxonomy of significant learning.
Dr. Cobbett has been with ±«Óătv University School of Nursing sine 1995. Her clinical practice area of expertise is maternal newborn nursing. Her research has focused predominantly in the area of education with a specific focus related to online education. Of particular interest is the planning, implementation and evaluation of good pedagogical practices with active online learning. Her teaching portfolio includes face-to-face, hybrid and fully online courses in the areas of nursing research, maternal-child nursing, emergency preparedness and disaster planning, as well as clinical practice intersessions. Her methodological expertise is in quantitative approaches however the majority of her research also includes a qualitative aspect in addition to the quantitative methodology.
