POSITION: PART-TIME OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY INSTRUCTORÌý Ìý Ìý

Fall Term: September-December 2016

This position will be responsible for tutoring a group of up to 24 students in the following course:

OCCU 5010 Advanced Studies on Enabling OccupationÌý(40 hours total)

PAY RATE: According to the CUPE Collective Agreement

WORK ASSIGNMENT: Under the guidance of the Course Professors, the instructor will hold weekly online tutorials (synchronous and asynchronous depending upon need) to coach students to successfully complete the course. Coaching will be based on student need as identified by the students and the Course Professors and will include topics such as 1) reading articles efficiently and effectively; 2) developing an understanding of occupation and enablement-related concepts; 3) contributing to online discussions effectively; 4) critically appraising literature;Ìý 5) offering peer feedback; and 6) successfully completing major paper assignment (identifying a topic, generating an outline, annotated bibliography, draft paper; when to seek assistance of an editor). Ìý

¸é·¡²Ï±«±õ¸é·¡²Ñ·¡±·°Õ³§:ÌýMSc(OT) or equivalent. Excellent communication and organizational skills and willingness to work closely with Course Professors. Experience with student teaching/supervision and experience with educative distance technologies is required. Familiarity with challenges faced by internationally trained therapists transitioning to Canadian graduate-level education would be a decided asset. Knowledge of course content would be an asset. ÌýGood computer skills and use of the internet (discussion boards and other communication technology) required.
