POSITION: Part-time Academic Posting: Biology of Phytoplankton, OCEA 4230.03/5230.03/ BIOL/MARI 4662.03; Winter Term 2016/2017
DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Oceanography
PAY RATE:Â In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement
WORK ASSIGNMENT: The instructor is responsible for the lectures in this advanced undergraduate-level course on the physiology and ecology of phytoplankton, including methods for describing the distributions and activities of phytoplankton. More advanced material will also be provided to cross-listed graduate students. The instructor will prepare and mark components of assignments and exams that are associated with the lectures.Â
REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Applicants will possess a doctorate in biology or oceanography with research experience in microalgal physiology and ecology. He/she will also have demonstrated ability in lecturing to students at both the undergraduate and graduate level. Preference will be given to applicants who have direct experience with phytoplankton research in both the laboratory and field, and a knowledge of bio-optics (all parts of class content). First-time applicants to the Department of Oceanography must provide the names of two references.
