Peer Advisor (Contract Position)

The Peer Advisor acts as a primary resource for in-person service in the Registrar’s Office from 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. daily from October to April. Responsibilities include appointment scheduling, general degree advising; registration support; responding to a wide range of inquiries including those regarding regulations, policies, and forms; and planning/support for events including Encaenia, Matriculation, Life After King’s, the King’s Advising Luncheon and other advising month activities.
ORGANIZATION STRUCTURE
This position reports to the Assistant Registrar of Academic and Enrolment Services.
SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
The Peer Advisor is responsible for the following:
- Acts as a primary resource for in-person service in the Registrar's Office from 11:30 a.m. to 1: 30 p.m. daily.
- Answers in-person inquiries regarding registration, programme and degree requirements, courses, letters of permission, student resources and services, and other student-related matters.
- Provides advice on ordering transcripts and completing important forms such as confirmations of enrolment, intent to graduate forms, letter of permission forms and waivers of academic regulations, admission and bursary applications.
- Provides general administrative support.
- Schedules admission and advising appointments.
- Assists with the planning and advertising of retention related programming including Encaenia, Matriculation, Life after Kings and First Year Advising Month.
- Additional hours may be offered during peak advising periods (first two weeks of September, first two weeks of January and the month of March).

Qualifications:
Education – Applicant must be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate program at the University of King’s College or ±«Óătv University.
Experience – Excellent communication skills, organization skills and time management skills are needed. Ability to deal with student needs and interests with empathy, an aptitude for dealing with the public and discretion in handling sensitive, confidential and personal information is a must. The incumbent must be a detail-oriented individual with an ability to work with standard office applications such as Microsoft Office. Prior experience working in customer service or an office setting is considered an asset.

Hours: 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday to Friday from October to April with additional hours offered during peak advising periods
Rate of Pay: $14.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay
