The Departments of Psychology & Neuroscience and Psychiatry at ±«Óãtv University invite applications for a probationary tenure-track or tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, in the area of addictions research. The position will begin 1 July 2018. Preference will be given to applicants whose addictions research program falls in the area of clinical psychology and/or human clinical neuroscience, and to those with interests and expertise relevant to the comorbidity of mental health and addictions; however, all relevant applicants from addiction researchers will be considered. The position is to be taken up in the Department of Psychology & Neuroscience, with the possibility of a joint appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, depending on the candidate’s expertise and
experience. The successful applicant will join one or two departments with strong traditions in clinical psychology and psychiatry, as well as cognitive and neuropsychology, developmental psychology, child and adolescent psychiatry, and neuroscience. The successful applicant will have an excellent record of published research for their career level, with the capacity to develop an independent, funded laboratory, and will be expected to participate actively in undergraduate, graduate, and resident teaching as well as supervision of honours, graduate student, and resident research. The successful applicant will also be expected to contribute to Departmental and University service needs.

The Psychology and Neuroscience Department has a CPA-accredited Clinical Psychology PhD Program and the Psychiatry Department has recently launched an MSc in Psychiatry Research Program. Candidates should have a PhD in clinical psychology or a related discipline. Applications from qualified applicants with an MD, psychiatry specialization, will also be considered. Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD in Clinical Psychology from a CPA- or APA-accredited program, ideally with accredited internship experience. Applicants who have a clinical psychology PhD must also be eligible for registration as a psychologist in Nova Scotia. The successful applicant will have shown a dedication to scholarship, a demonstrated ability or potential to build and maintain a high-quality research program, and an ability to contribute to the training of PhD students in the clinical psychology program and/or MSc students in the psychiatry research program.
