Part Time Academic Posting ‑ School of Social Work

POSITION: Part-Time Academic, MSW Program

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: School of Social Work/Distance

PAY RATE: In accordance with CUPE 3912 Collective Agreement.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:  The part-time academic will be responsible for teaching: SLWK 6381.03 Sec 08, "Social Policy Issues & Analysis for Practice". The class will be offered in the Winter Term, from January-April 2019.  For a full course description, please refer to the ±«Óãtv Academic Calendar.

The part-time academic will be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including preparing and delivering lectures and preparation and grading of assignments.  Distance courses are taught using an online learning management system (LMS) known as Brightspace.    Distance courses require on-line availability for consultation with students.  In addition, the part-time academic should expect to be engaged in course preparations for one-two months preceding course delivery.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:  Extensive knowledge of theoretical approaches to social policy and social policy analysis, particularly as it relates to social policy politics in Canada.  A Master of Social Work degree, or higher, and previous teaching experience, particularly with on-line teaching, is required.  New part-time academics must be available for Brightspace training - either in person or online.
