POSTING DATE: April 6, 2023

POSITION: Demonstrator - 90 hours, one position

DEPARTMENT/LOCATION: Summer SEASIDE program, Biology Department

PAY RATE: as per CUPE agreement

DATES OF EMPLOYMENT: May 3 – June 20, 2023

WORK ASSIGNMENT: Assist the instructor (Isabelle Aubé) with the summer distance-learning class BIOL/MARI/ENVS 3664.03, Intertidal Ecology. Duties include: monitoring Discussion Boards and answering questions, marking assignments and offering feedback, independent collection of field data and footage, video editing, video calls with students and supervisor. Home in Halifax or Nova Scotia an asset.

REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION: Minimum 3rd year in a B.Sc. in Biology or a related field; experience in field work and/or courses on marine invertebrates and/or seaweeds; up-to-date standard first-aid and CPR certification; and good physical condition - some moderate hiking in uneven and slippery terrain as well as moderate physical labour may be required during home-based field collection. Accommodations with instructor can be made if away for a few days. All TAs and Demonstrators hired to teach online will be supported by the instructor and ±«Óãtv through the Centre for Learning and Teaching (clt@dal.ca) and Academic Technology Services (support@dal.ca).
