The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Department of History are saddened to share the news of the sudden passing of our dear friend and recently retired colleague, Ms. Tina Jones.
Dr. Krista Kesselring, Chair of the History department, shares the following message:
Members of the History Department, past and present, are heartbroken to have lost Tina Jones. She had many years with us, but not enough. Tina worked with us from 1989 until 2021, after an initial posting in English. She helped generations of students, faculty, and fellow staff not just with her legendary efficiency, knowledge, and professionalism but also her abundant good humour and steady kindness. Tina didn’t only earn the immense gratitude of those she worked with most closely: she also won both the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences’ Excellence in Service Award and the University's Rosemary Gill Award for outstanding commitment to students. Upon receiving the latter, she noted that for her “It’s all about the students. If you can help one student, that’s what it’s all about for me…You really feel like you accomplished something important.” Tina certainly did accomplish much over the years. We will miss her mightily and offer our condolences to her family and her many friends.
