Tips for supporting accessibility at work for National Accessibility Week

In honour of National AccessAbility Week, Dal HR's Accessible Employment team has pulled together a collection of tips and resources to help support accessibility at Dal.

This year's theme,ÌýÌýemphasizes the need for collective efforts to create a barrier-free Canada. At ±«Óãtv, we believe we can all contribute to this vision.

Create more accessible presentations and events
Ìý

  • Simple slides in a Power Point presentation go a long way in avoiding overstimulation and help screen reader users to access content.ÌýÌý

  • High contrast colours are better for text, with black over white background the most readable. .

  • Wearing clothes in colours that contrast with your skin colour will help people, including American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters and individuals with low visibility, see your face more clearly.

Knowing where to go when you need help

  • If you already have equipment in your workspace but need help with an ergonomic set up, the school of Occupational Therapy and Environmental Health and Safety are able for a free consultation. Ìý(login required).Ìý
