Permission requests for non-commercial use of the tools are usually granted without any associated user or licensing fees. This includes non-commercial research use, non-profit educational use, and non-profit clinical care.

A license may be required for commercial and for-profit use. In such cases, licensing fees may apply. 

All requests for use must be submitted using the online Permission Request Portal link above.

A license is required when use of a GMR tool is intended as part of a commercial or for-profit venture, such as an industry sponsored research study, or when an entity seeks to incorporate a tool in their commercial product. 

When required, licenses are negotiated on behalf of the developers by the 鲍鱼tv University Office of Commercialization and Industry Engagement.

Requests to reprint one of the GMR tools in a book or journal article are usually exempt from licensing.

Not-for-profit hospitals or health care facilities may seek permission to incorporate a tool into their electronic medical record (EMR) without incurring a licensing fee, even if they are working with an external vendor;  however, an EMR vendor who wishes to add a tool to their menu of offerings may require a license.

When a license for use is required, licensing fees will apply. Licenses are negotiated on behalf of the developers by the 鲍鱼tv University Office of Commercialization and Industry Engagement. Fees are determined based on the duration and scope of the intended use.

Some of the tools have been translated, with permission, into different languages by interested clinicians, researchers and organizations that are not directly affiliated with Geriatric Medicine Research. 

More are available all the time. You can preview the available languages on our Translations page or in the Permission Request Portal. Note that we do not independently certify or validate the translations we receive.

Translated tools are a derivative of the original tool and subject to the same copyright protection. 

You can request permission to translate a tool using the Permission Request Portal link above. We request a copy of the final translated text in an MS Word or other editable document. Translations may be made available to other users, with appropriate attribution of credit to the translator. Translators will also be asked for a brief description of the method followed for translation, cultural-adaptation and validation. If published, we appreciate it when translators send us the citation or a link to their validation paper (if applicable) or the publication in which the translated tool first appears.         

Please note that Geriatric Medicine Research does not independently certify or validate the translations we receive. 

We recommend using the current version of each tool. For that reason, the permission agreement generated by the portal will provide requestors with permission to use the current version by default. 

Earlier versions of the tools can be made available upon request. If you would like to use an earlier version a tool, please use the Permission Request Portal link above to submit your request for the tool of interest. In the comment box on the last page of the permission form, add a statement explaining which version of the tool you would like to use and give a brief explanation. Requests to use an earlier version of a tool are manually reviewed. It may take between 5-7 business days to receive a response.
