The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) is excited to again be planning the annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition at ±«Óãtv University on Wednesday, March 1st, and Thursday, March 2nd, 2017. 3MT is a unique skills development activity which challenges graduate students in research-based programs to present their theses in three minutes or less to a non-specialist audience. Participants will be judged on how effectively they are able to communicate their research. There will be cash prizes available to the finalists. The top finalists will also have the opportunity to compete at the Eastern Regional Competition in April.
The competition is open to the public, and to make it a success we really need faculty and staff to both encourage students to compete (this is a fantastic professional development opportunity) and to come out and watch the participants. We would also like to invite faculty to bring classes to watch the preliminary heats.
The competition will involve a day of preliminary heats on March 1st, and the winner of each heat will go on to compete in the finals on the evening of March 2nd. The competition will be judged by a panel of faculty and staff from across the university.
