The Department of Plant, Food, and Environmental Sciences in the Faculty of Agriculture invites applications from qualified candidates for a full-time Instructor position in Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Chemistry with teaching (domestic and international articulated programmes), academic programme coordination, and service responsibilities including multiple laboratory set-ups and management, inventory, safety audits and training of graduate students and research staff in instrumentation. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
A minimum of a Master's degree in Chemistry, Agricultural Chemistry, Food Chemistry, Environmental Chemistry from a recognized university, with at least one degree in Chemistry plus at least one year of teaching experience in Chemistry, Agricultural Chemistry, Food Chemistry or Environmental Chemistry in a post-secondary institution is required. Applicants must have knowledge and experience of the role of Chemistry in Agriculture, Agri-food, and/or Environment. Evidence of teaching at the undergraduate level is required.
Demonstrated excellence and strong passion in teaching in a multi-cultural, multi-national environment, with strong leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and an ability to work in co-operation with a number of university, government, and industry groups, are desirable assets. The individual must be highly motivated with sound judgement, professionalism, integrity, collegiality, resourcefulness, innovation, self-motivation, excellent communication skills and strong organizational skills.
The successful applicant will teach distance, diploma, and degree courses for students in Environmental Sciences, Plant Sciences, Integrated Environmental Management, Landscape Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Animal Science and Aquaculture programmes within ±«Óãtv University, and at international universities where articulation agreements are in effect. The successful applicant is expected to build strong connections with the Canadian and regional agriculture, agri-food and environmental industries through teaching and outreach activities. The applicant must have a strong commitment to teaching and service to the university.
