OCCU 5041.03 Evidence Based Occupational Therapy

Spring term 2020

Department:     School of Occupational Therapy

Pay rate:           In accordance with CUPE agreement

Work Assignment:  The sessional instructor will be responsible for the distance education delivery of OCCU 5041.03 Evidence Based Practice in the School’s Post-Professional program. This is an intensive, full 3 credit course condensed in a seven week course from May 11, 2020 – June 29, 2020. The instructor would be responsible for all aspects of teaching and administering the class, including course preparation for distance delivery, lectures, test preparation and evaluation of students. In addition, the instructor should be available on-line for consultation with students.

This course covers the key issues in the Master of Science (Occupational Therapy – Post Professional) program. It provides students with the opportunity to examine and critique evidence-based practice and its application to occupational therapy. Using readings, exercises, and discussion, students analyze the principles underlying evidence-based practice, learn methods to critically appraise the literature, and integrate these methods into occupational therapy practice. 

Requirements of position: PhD or Masters degree. Previous teaching experience required, teaching experience especially with graduate students preferred. Experience with web-based distance education technology preferred.  Experience in implementing and / or evaluating evidence for use in professional practice is an asset.
