Upcoming SURGE events

Here are the upcoming events happening at SURGE. These events are open to all students, staff, and faculty at ±«Óătv University. All of our workshops require no former knowledge and are FREE to attend. Please email surge@dal.ca if you have any questions. 

Every Tuesday from 11:30-1:00 - Discover Coding: Python Edition. We have teamed up with Ocean Tracking Network again to deliver this coding series on Python. Join us as we go through the Software Carpentries Curriculum to help researchers better learn Python. Interested? ​Tuesday Feb 24 from 6-9 pm - MAKE: Have you ever tried to create your own product? But the final result didn’t look like what you imagined?  During MAKE you will learn the tools which enable you to take the physical development of your idea to the next level! This is a collaborative event with IDEA and Cultiv8. Limited seating. Sign up: 

Feb 29-Mar 1 - Ghost Gear Deep Dive with WWF-Canada: ​SURGE has teamed up with World Wildlife Fund Canada and the Fishing Gear Coalition of Atlantic Canada to create a deep dive problem solving weekend to tackle the issue of ghost gear. Come learn more about this issue facing our oceans and work in a team to create a creative solution. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams. Register and more info: 

Mar 13-15 - Neurohack: This Deep Dive event is a weekend long event in collaboration with Brain Awareness Week. This Deep Dive is aimed at bringing together students from across disciplines to develop creative applications of neuroimaging data. More info and registration to come. 

These events are fun, free, interactive and will provide you with skills to take to your research and beyond. Open to everyone. No experience necessary. Email surge@dal.ca for more info.​ Participants who participate in ​at least 40 hours of SURGE events can put it towards their co-curricular record.
