Information Technology Services will be introducing a security feature to help you identify email that may be a security concern. You may have received unwanted email from people claiming to be ±«Óătv colleagues. The names are correct but if you examine the email more closely you notice that the email is from a non @dal.ca email address. The “Bad Actor” is trying to impersonate someone here at Dal with the hopes of tricking you into doing something for their gain.
On 9 Mar 2020 a banner will appear at the top of all emails sent from a non ±«Óătv email address. Even if the “Bad Actor” uses a name you are familiar with you will know by the red banner it did not come from Dal.ca. Not all emails with the banner are fraudulent, but this tool will assist with determining the ones that are.
To all our colleagues that have brought these fraudulent emails to our attention, we would like to thank you for your diligence and support.Â
