Integrated planning framework

The Integrated Planning Framework is a data-driven planning framework that supports strategic decision-making across the university.

Supporting the mission of the university

±«Óãtv has a multitude of plans designed to support the mission of the university: annual, foundational (campus plan, capital, budget, enrolment, accessibility, digital strategy, employment equity, sustainability), and strategic (university, Faculty and units, research and innovation, diversity and inclusion). Integrating our plans enables us to achieve synergy and progress across plans, ensure the purposeful dedication of resources to those plans, and identify and pursue high-impact projects.

Integrated Planning is designed to:

  • Centre the university’s academic and research mission
  • Facilitate consensus on priorities
  • Ensure institutional ownership at all levels and enhance accountability
  • Encourage pursuit of high-impact priorities and projects (whether in a single Faculty or unit or across those entities)
  • Enable more locally relevant and more focused input into plans by faculty, staff and students
  • Provide insight into risk, enabling us to better eliminate or mitigate it
  • Support data-driven decision-making and responsiveness to the external environment
  • Improve organizational efficiency and effectiveness

Annual cycle

Integrated Planning at ±«Óãtv is a cyclical and iterative process where lessons learned will inform improvements. Each year, the annual cycle is initiated with an environmental scan of the external factors and data provided to Faculties and units and includes the provision of parameters to inform the development of integrated plans.

Key Planning Considerations

Integrated Planning is a data-driven, cross-functional process that supports strategic decision-making. In-depth data, both related to our external environment and our institutional metrics, informs our strategies and decisions around priorities and resource allocation.

The following key planning considerations and supporting data points, are addressed by Faculties and units as part of the integrated planning process.  Inclusive excellence is a key consideration in each category.Â
