The Schulich School of Law's Career Development Office (CDO) role is to support and empower our law students by ensuring students have the career information and life-long career management skills necessary to achieve their long-term personal career goals.

The CDO offers comprehensive resources, programs and services including: one-on-one career and job search coaching, career planning and development workshops, resume/cover letter review, individual interview preparation assistance, and a variety of industry panels to demonstrate to students the career choices and options available to them.

Additionally, the CDO builds strategic relationships and outreach to employers and provide opportunities for students to network with local and national employers, as well as with alumni, though on-campus interviews, industry career panels, well organized firm visits in Toronto and Vancouver, the Weldon Mentor Program and the Law + Program. 

Weldon Mentorship Program

The Weldon Mentorship Program provides students with the opportunity to gain valuable insight into the legal profession through our alumni's support and guidance.  Not to be confused with employment networking, the program is aimed at helping students connect with alum who see the value of mentoring and want to share their experience with current students and recent graduated.

 

Internship Program

The Schulich School of Law offers a robust and ever-growing program that provides funding to allow students to spend the summer after their first or second year completing an internship either within Canada or around the world.  An internship is a great way to explore potential career paths, gain expereince, apply legal knowledge and make valuable connections.

Events & Information Sessions

Throughout the year, the CDO holds a variety of career-focused information sessions and workshops aimed at helping students bolster skillsets, self-awareness and confidence that will aid in the professional world.

We also offer opportunities to tour firms and network with employers, and participate in recruitment events such as On-Campus Interviews and Career Fairs.
