How to engage with ±«Óãtv researchers

The Office of Commercialization and Industry Engagement (OCIE) facilitates all the university’s research agreements with the private sector, and we aim to make these as transparent and frictionless as possible.

We work hard to understand your company’s:

  • culture and goals
  • timelines and R&D requirements
  • challenges and opportunities
  • existing products, services and processes

Your company’s needs shape a tailored and mutually beneficial approach to research collaboration opportunities with ±«Óãtv.

You can count on our team to:

  • Work on behalf of the researchers and you to establish a successful partnership.
  • Assign you a specific OCIE manager to maintain consistency in communication as it relates to your project.
  • Connect with highly qualified ±«Óãtv students if you’re looking to add new talent to your team.
  • ±õ»å±ð²Ô³Ù¾±´Ú²âÌýrelevant funding sources that can support your company’s partnership with the university.
  • Provide access to cutting-edge research facilities and equipment.

Partnership Agreements

The agreements that support university-industry partnerships and technology transfer include:

Research collaboration agreements are used to formalize industry-sponsored research partnerships. Generally, in these cases, companies are seeking a research and development (R&D) partnership to establish competitive advantages in the marketplace (e.g., solving a specific problem in response to an industry need for fundamental research and/or testing and further development of a technology).

  • Timeline to completion:
3-4 weeks using ±«Óãtv’s template agreement. If substantial negotiations are required, extended timelines can be expected.
  • Parties involved:
    OCIE manager, researcher(s), industry partner

A non-disclosure agreement (NDA) is used to establish a confidential knowledge exchange between all parties. When there’s a strong case for collaborative partnership between a ±«Óãtv researcher and a company, an NDA allows for discussions involving detailed confidential and/or proprietary subject matter. NDAs are introduced early in a relationship, when the nature of the intended collaboration, scope of work, and timelines need to be established before a suitable agreement can be finalized.

  • Timeline to completion:
1 week if using ±«Óãtv’s template NDA agreement. If substantial negotiations are required, a longer timeline can be expected.
  • Parties involved:
    OCIE manager, researcher(s), industry partner
