The Master of Marine Management is a professional, non-thesis, and interdisciplinary degree program offering required classes in marine and social sciences and a choice of electives from approved marine-related classes.Ìý

The Marine Affairs Program offers a professional education at the graduate level for ocean managers, those planning a career in marine affairs, managers employed in the public and private sectors with responsibilities in marine affairs, individuals aspiring to commence or strengthen their academic or teaching careers, and community organizers wishing to further their understanding of marine affairs in order to benefit their communities.Ìý

Careers

With this degree, you’ll be well-suited to positions in policymaking, environmental assessment, provision of advice to special projects and/or programs, research, education, and planning in the broad area of marine affairs.

Graduates hold positions in public and private sectors as well as non-governmental organizations. This could include government departments such as Parks Canada, Fisheries and Oceans, Environment Canada, and Transport Canada. The private sector is composed, principally but not exclusively, of environmental consulting companies, while NGOs include local organizations such as the Ecology Action Centre or global organizations like the World Wildlife Fund. In addition, many graduates find work in academic institutions where they teach, conduct research or participate in teams of various sizes.

Program options

Non-thesis: Build your skills and knowledge in this course-based program.Ìý

Project: You will complete and present a research paper as part of your program requirements.Ìý

Internship: You will have the opportunity to participate in an internship lasting a minimum of 4 weeks during the summer semester.
