Purpose
The purpose of the Senate Discipline Committee (SDC) is to hear all complaints or allegations of violations of academic integrity regulations and non-academic misconduct by students in accordance with the jurisdiction and procedures established by Senate.
The Senate Discipline Committee has jurisdiction to hear:
Membership
Elected voting members:
- Eight faculty members, one of whom shall be elected chair on an annual basis by the members of the committee.
Student voting members
- Four student members appointed annually by the ±«Óătv Student Union; andÂ
- One student member appointed annually by the University of King’s College Students’ Union none of whom are members of the Senate Appeals Committee.
Responsibilities
a) Forming panels from among its members to hear allegations concerning violations of academic integrity regulations by students, in accordance with the jurisdiction and procedures established by Senate;Â
b) Forming panels from among its members to hear complaints concerning violations of the Code of Student Conduct, in accordance with the jurisdiction and procedures established by Senate;Â
c) Forming panels from among its members to hear complaints concerning violations of the Sexualized Violence Policy by students, in accordance with the jurisdiction and procedures established by Senate; and Approved by Senate March 9, 2011; Revised by Senate May 22, 2018; andÂ
d) Through its panels, conducting the hearings described in section 1(a), (b), and (c) above.Â
a) Meeting a minimum of once annually to receive training concerning the jurisdiction and procedures established by Senate for this committee, the proper conduct of hearings, and other relevant legal principles (for new members, attendance being mandatory);Â
b) Meeting more frequently as required to review its operation or to address emerging policy issues as required from time to time; andÂ
c) Meeting a minimum of once annually with the academic integrity officers.Â
Reporting annually to Senate concerning the work of the committee and the decisions of hearing panels convened during the year.
